[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_custom_heading text=”Description” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:left|color:%2300bab3″ use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]A very special family walk in one of Sicily’s most beautiful and least known woods, to discover a very special playground among trees and reach a breathtaking lookout point.
To reach the beginning of the route, we recommend completing the first two kilometers by car, up to the Milianni hamlet. Prior to your trip, ask at the hotel reception whether your car is suitable to reach the starting point of the trail, otherwise, ask for shuttle service.
After parking near a small Forestale (Park Rangers) house, the path starts slightly uphill, to easily reach, in just a few steps, a steeper trail that extends to the lookout point. It is a short, though steep route, and the effort will be well rewarded by the wonders of the Sicilian sea standing before your eyes, while the Tardara Woods grows all around.
After going uphill, you can enjoy a breathtaking 360-degree view, stretching from the Madonie Mountains to the Cefalù coast.
The descent will take you straight through the woods, in a pleasant area equipped for picnics. The very impressive trees are predominantly cork oaks, but it is also possible to find many extremely rare specimens, like flowering ashes, which give the forest its name. This native Arabic tree is in fact called “dardar”, hence the Sicilian dardaro. From the trail’s waypoints, you can find interesting information about these trees, with anecdotes and legends to share with your children.
But the surprises are not over: a few steps from the picnic area, in the middle of the woods, a wide area with a playground and a fitness trail for children to go wild will appear before your eyes as if by magic. The only problem you have here is to pry children away from the fun in a playground that is unique in the world![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_empty_space height=”52px”][vc_column_text]Difficulty level: easy
